Arena Feedback

The Arena in Galaxy
Twelve days ago, the new Arena opened. I've asked a few of Paragon's heroes their opinion on it.

One thing is certain, all heroes I encountered knew about the Arena. But their opinion vary much. The first one I interviewed was a kheldian. United said "The arena? Well, we don't see the point. Heroes have more pressing issues to take care of than fight each other." An opinion shared by Silent Edge, that think "I do not see the need for heroes to fight - but it takes all kinds to make a world complete I suppose".Jessica seems to think the same way "Jessica is indifferent to it, but Jessica would not go". Many heroes live with it, even if doesn't liking it. Ghostwalker, a new hero in the city, has a rather clear-cut opinion "Hmm..arenas..one on one battle's....like dogs fighting over a bone. Not to my liking."

For Velvet Vengence, it's something else "Well, it's a bit bread and circuses, I think". I asked the statistics about people watching the fights, I was refused access to the detail but it sounds as they are not many spectators. Many have already their eyes outside their window and see their heros. But this could change with time.

Fighting in

Then I went to the Arena to try having another kind of opinion. There's not many hero for the moment, but Bloodfest politely answered to me: "Well, I only beat up criminals for the hell of it. Now I get the chance to kick the butts of all those do-gooder clowns!" He then groaned "Looks like no one is man enough to challenge me though." Taking a chance to see the Arena from inside, I proposed a match. Hope he did like the sound of his head eating the floor.

On another note, the Arena themselves looks neat. The technology used depends on the different place you fight in, but it's mostly solid holographic, backed up by concrete at some place. But this technology is proprietary and the details are jalously keeped by the society that manage the Arena.

Inside, a bit empty of competitors

I heard that bets will be allowed on the match. This is far more controversial than the match themselves. For United, it's simply "Sounds pointless to us." Silent Edge goes further, for him "Beting on fights? How barbaric!" For Ghostwalker, it another point of view but similar as "Gambling......another thing not to my liking...gambling leads to other vices..and then injustice" Contrary to Bloodfest saying "Heh. Sounds like an easy way to earn some cash."

I also heard that some hero uses the Arena as a training ground. Effectively it's a rather safe zone to train someone, there's medical care ready to intervene in case of accident. It could also provide a training ground for supergroups that doesn't have a training room.
